Good Girl Comeback is making a difference in Haiti

Good Girl Comeback is a nationally recognized nonprofit that empowers teens to set goals which build confidence, kindness, and personal fulfillment. Founder Chelsea Gheesling was blessed to hear a very important message at a young age – happiness and fulfillment are found when we strive to see the goodness in ourselves and others. She wanted to share that message with others so she started the Good Girl Comeback. Through this initiative, Chelsea has presented to thousands of girls at schools, churches and seminars, been featured in magazines, newspapers and radio broadcasts.

Chelsea was trained at Mater Ecclesiae College on youth development and formation, and has been delivering youth presentations for more than nine years throughout the world on self-respect, virtue and spiritual development. The GGCB encourages girls to become independent thinkers and virtuous leaders, who see the goodness in themselves and others.

This July will mark the Good Girl Comeback’s third volunteer trip to Haiti with Mission Youth, and this year they are bringing their biggest group yet! 35 volunteers will spend the week in Port-au-Prince working with the Missionaries of Charity.

The missionaries will volunteer in their orphanage and food center, but their biggest responsibility is running a week-long summer camp for kids who are in desperate need of care. The goal of the summer camp is to provide the children with a week of fun, education, love and nourishment. Many of the kids who attend the camp live on the street and lack basic necessities like food and water. Last year the GGCB missionaries were blown away by the children’s appreciation of the care they received during the camp.

Good Girl Comeback is reaching out to others in order to make this camp happen again for the children in Haiti. During the first three weeks of July, missionaries will host THREE week-long summer camps. This means more than 600 kids will be able to attend.

To put on the summer camps for 600 kids GGCB has a goal of reaching 350 people willing to donate JUST $10 each!
