Safe Environment

As Consecrated Women of Regnum Christi, we are women with a specific vocation and mission within the Church. Following the example of Jesus, we feel called to imbue daily life and realities with compassion, care and empathy.

We recognize that any form of abuse causes deep pain and seriously affects the person who suffers from it, as well as their family and the Church. Therefore, we are firmly committed to creating and maintaining safe environments for minors and vulnerable adults who participate in our apostolic, educational and pastoral activities.

We want to clearly state our determined commitment to prevent and address behaviors that may lead to any type of abuse. Therefore, we have codes of conduct, safe environment manuals and protocols for dealing with complaints, information or accusations. These documents have been prepared with the advice of professionals in psychology, civil and canon law, as well as experts from other ecclesiastical institutions. We have also taken into account the provisions of the Holy See, the relevant Episcopal Conferences and the civil laws of each country.

We believe that it is important that there are places where people will be received, and find assurance that all they express will be received with care and reverence.  If someone has suffered abuse by a member of the Society of Apostolic Life, “Consecrated Women of Regnum Christi”, we invite them to contact the person in charge of safe environment in their corresponding territory – the e-mail address can be found below on this page. We want any information, complaint or accusation to be treated with respect and charity towards all the persons involved, in order to listen, to know the facts, to take the appropriate measures and move forward on a path of healing and reconciliation.

We hear the urgency with which Pope Francis asks us to acknowledge in our life and mission the suffering of those who have been victims of sexual abuse, abuse of power or abuse of conscience:

Today we are challenged as the People of God to assume the pain of our brothers and sisters whose flesh and spirit are violated. If in the past, omission could be a form of response, today we want solidarity, understood in its deepest and most challenging sense. Thus it can become our way of making present and future history, in an environment where conflicts, tensions and especially the victims of all kinds of abuse can find an outstretched hand to protect them and rescue them from their pain[1]. Such solidarity requires us, in turn, to denounce everything that endangers the integrity of any person[2].

Therefore, we commit ourselves to do everything in our power to respond effectively to this ecclesial challenge that asks us to recognize facts, convert individually and as an institution, as well as to provide the means to promote a process of profound change and a culture of protection and care, based on our firm conviction of the dignity of every human being.
