During the first days of January, the delegates of the III Ordinary General Assembly of the Consecrated Women of Regnum Christi arrived in Rome from different parts of the world. The assembly represents the supreme governing body of the Society of Apostolic Life and is held every six years. This time around, the assembly convened 43 delegates of eleven nationalities.

On January 6, they attended the Eucharistic celebration of the Epiphany and the closing of the Holy Door at St. Peter’s Basilica, presided over by Pope Leo XIV. The Holy Door has been crossed by more than 33 million pilgrims during this past Jubilee Year. In a spirit of recollection and enthusiasm, the consecrated women concluded the Jubilee Year under the motto “pilgrims of hope” together with the entire Church.
Following the Mass, and under heavy rain, they waited in St. Peter’s Square to participate in the Angelus prayer with the Pope, who ended his reflection by exclaiming:
“May his Kingdom grow, may his words come to fulfillment in us, may strangers and enemies become brothers and sisters. In the place of inequality, may there be fairness, and may the industry of war be replaced by the craft of peace. As weavers of hope, let us journey together towards the future by another road (cf. Mt 2:12).”
Preparing in prayer for a synodal journey, the delegates began their introductory retreat, preached by Fr. Cristóbal Fones, S.J. The general house became imbued by a sense of sacred silence, where in an atmosphere of intimacy with the Lord, everyone was listening. During those days of retreat, they sought to open their hearts to the Holy Spirit todiscern together the path for the next six years, especially through prayer, conversation, listening, and appreciative observation.
The week ended with a training day on Saturday and a time of rest on Sunday. The opening of the assembly took place on Monday, January 12, at St. Peter’s Basilica, in a Mass presided over by Cardinal Ángel Fernández Artime, S.D.B., Pro-Prefect of the Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life.

For five weeks, the delegates will meet to address important topics for the Consecrated Women of Regnum Christi, such as the vision of the Society toward 2031, integrating their apostolic projection; discernment on the experience of poverty; the financial sustainability plan; ongoing formation; contemplative life in Regnum Christi; and proposed modifications to their own constitutions.
Together with the Legionaries of Christ and the Lay Consecrated Men of Regnum Christi, who are also holding their general chapter and general assembly in January, they give thanks to the Lord for this time of interior renewal, fidelity to the charism, and openness to the Holy Spirit.
Through the motto, “Sent as apostles of hope,” the consecrated women reaffirm their mission to bring Christ to the world in communion with all of Regnum Christi.
