Sent as Apostles of Hope

By Anne-Marie Terrenoir

This motto accompanied us throughout the III Ordinary General Assembly of the Consecrated Women of Regnum Christi. He recalls another motto that, until the end of last year, resounded in the Church: “pilgrims of hope.” It recalls or rather shows a translation of the Jubilee motto according to our charism, reaffirming our mission to bring Christ to the world in communion with all Regnum Christi.

What is the importance of the assembly? It is the supreme body of authority in the Society of Apostolic Life that is held every six years, during which the director general and her councilors are elected, and the most important matters are dealt with in order to bring about the renewal and adaptation of the Society in accordance with the charism.

For this occasion, 43 delegates of eleven nationalities were summoned, and among them… there is me.

During these five weeks, from January 12 to February 14, we seek to open ourselves to the Holy Spirit to discern together the orientations for this six-year term, especially through prayer, conversation, listening and appreciative gaze. For me it was a synodal experience, a grace and a renewal. I could feel the atmosphere in which a good spirit, serenity, joy, commitment reigned.

Among the important themes are the Society’s vision towards 2032, fraternal life, poverty, sustainability, changes to one’s own right, and a possible contemplative lifestyle in Regnum Christi.

On January 29 we had the gift of meeting Pope Leo who received us in a private audience, together with the Lay Consecrated Persons of Regnum Christi, who were also celebrating their general assembly. This meeting with the Vicar of Christ and the words he addressed to us, articulated in three fundamental points – charism, government and communion – filled us with courage to follow the path and with consolation (integral discourse: https://www.vatican.va/content/leo-xiv/es/speeches/2026/january/documents/20260129-regnum-christi.html).

We thank everyone who supported us with their prayer during this time of discernment so that we may follow the charism received from God with creative fidelity to the service of the Church.
