Fiorella Grimaldi
I remember going to Laura’s on several occasions while I lived in DC to enjoy a nice dinner together. She always prepared her home and table with great thoughtfulness and detail. I am so grateful for Laura’s witness of faithful love to God, her kindness and her commitment to serve and do good to others.
Dear sisters in Christ, I offer you my condolences on the loss of your dear Laura. I am also offering prayers for her soul and for your hearts.
God bless you,
Machell
Laura was an amazing woman and the community in Omaha has been blessed by her wisdom and love of the Lord. Prayers of gratitude for her life and trust she is rejoicing in Heaven with all the saints.
Heartfelt condolences to all who were close to Laura. The World has truly been blessed by her presence. May her legacy live on in all who had the privilege to be touched by her spirit and may God bless you all as you journey these next few days of farewell and celebration of a life well lived.

Laura and I served together in Los Angeles in 1999-2000. She was the consecrated and I was the co-worker (RCMC) so she was in charge of me. She was steady and patient with me when I was head strong. Notably, we did a working road trip to Arizona and while it was her turn to sleep in the car I made us run out of gas on a lonely stretch of desert highway 34 miles away from the closest gas station. She forgave me readily and was even able to laugh before long. We (the other co-workers and myself) managed to lock ourselves out of the house with food cooking in the oven… eventually burning and creating a lot of smoke. Laura arrived in the scene and stayed calm to help us. Again, patiently teaching and soon able to have a chuckle about it all. It was a Holy Hour she preached that inspired me to be more generous in my gift of self to God. What a gem. May her soul rest in peace.
With gratitude and hope, I remember the life of Laura Mayers. I knew her when we lived at the formation center in Rhode Island, where she was my professor.
Laura gave her life generously as a consecrated woman of Regnum Christi, offering herself fully to the Lord and to those entrusted to her. As the Gospel says, “She did what she could” (Mk 14:8). In that faithful offering, her life bore lasting fruit in the hearts and lives she helped form.
I commend her now to the Lord she served with such freedom and love, trusting that He has received her gift and welcomed her into His peace. May her witness continue to inspire hope and fidelity in all who knew her.
May our all merciful Lord Jesus bring Laura to heaven with Him and may He shower His peace on Laura’s family, Consecrated sisters and friends. You all remain in my prayers.
Thank you for your love and service for the Church. Regnum Christi and the Catholic Church is so much stronger because of your presence.! You will always be remembered Laura Ann.
Laura, may the Lord receive you into his loving arms in that eternal embrace that we love for!
To all her family, know that you are in our prayers constantly during this time.
And to my dear sisters who accompanied her so closely, thank you for taking care of our sister with such love and service. My prayers are with you during this time.
I am very sad for our loss of Laura and all she brought to everything she did and was. We got to be friends while she was living in Minnesota with her family. She came to the Omaha area a number of times to do formation for us and assist with retreats. She was very knowledgeable. She was such a gentle kind soul and tried to see everything and everyone positively. I am a much better person for having known her.
Dear Laura,
You were such a beautiful soul.
Your gentle and respectful approach to issues no matter how challenging was very Christlike. I am glad to have met you at DMU. May Christ, your spouse, grant you eternal rest. You will be missed.
I will always remember you in my prayers.
Laura Mayers was a kind colleague willing to mentor others and had a sweet personality that made working with her enjoyable. She will be greatly remembered and missed as both a colleague and a friend.
Ms Meyer quietly supported students, teachers and faculty quietly behind the scenes yet she greatly improved all of our experiences.
I am grateful for having known her even though the time was short
Such a beautiful obituary. She seemed so salt of the earth when I’d see her in the formation center 98-02. And she was kind and answered my questions when I called her a couple weeks after Heidi died. I had no idea she had cancer. Count on our prayers. Maurice Seubert family
Laura seemed to be the hub of the wheel on which DMU moved forward. Her quiet devotion and organizational skills were always active helping, doing, fixing or creating. She was a person who seemed like a quiet oasis no matter how much activity, even Residency, was going on around her. I join my DMU Family in thanking God for our time with her.
My deep condolences for the recent passing of Laura. She was a brave and strong woman. I knew Laura from DMU. Without her guidance and help, I would have been lost trying to find my footing at a new professor. She was a delight to talk with and to know. She will be greatly missed.
With deep sympathy,
Tiffany
I remember with great fondness working with Laura when we were both professors at Mater Ecclesiae college in Rhode Island. We share a passion for the mission, and I remember benefitting in a special way from her excellent listening skills – she seemed easily to hear, and then be able to articulate, what I was really trying to say underneath what I was actually saying. I will be remembering her in my Masses this week. TKC!
Laura was, ” my consecrated,” when I lived with her and other missionaries in Rye, NY in 2001. She was always patient and kind even when I was selfish and impatient. She was true educator. I am grateful to have known her and blessed that she was my Formator for a very critical time in my life.
Laura was a calming presence and she made you feel like you were the only person in the world when she listened. I will always be grateful for her guidance and support.
“May the angels lead you into paradise; may the martyrs greet you at your arrival and lead you into the holy city, Jerusalem. May the choir of Angels greet you and like Lazarus, who once was a poor man, may you have eternal rest. Amen.”
May she rest in peace. I had the blessing to work with her for several years and she was a huge support for me in the territorial administration. I think of her and brings me peace and a big smile to my face. What a beautiful soul. Prayers for her soul and her family!
I love Laura. She inspired me to persevere in the midst of darkness and suffering. She was a light in this world and, i am sure she will continue to be.
My condolences. Across nearly 10 years as a DMU faculty, I recall Laura’s quiet labors of love. Key tasks were never left undone: such an apropos verse to describe her presence among us.
Dear RC Consecrated family and family of Laura, please accept my heartfelt condolences and prayers, in thanksgiving for the gift of Laura, whose love, hope, faith and service have enriched so many lives! Please count on my prayers from my Orlando RC team as we unite in prayer. God bless you and thank you for all you do!
I met Laura in the spring of 2021. She helped me to put together the Formation Plan for the DC RC Women’s section. I am so grateful for her help and support. She did a series of talks about St. Joseph via Zoom that were so informative and fruitful for meditation. A life well lived, she will be missed. May her soul rest in the peace of Christ.
In loving memory of Laura. Such a wonderful person to have been blessed to know. I can still see her easy smile and hear her quick whit and gentle laughter. Pray for us from heaven, dear Laura. You were a light to those around you.
In loving memory of Laura. What a beautiful person to have had the privilege to know. I can still see her easy smile and can her hear her quick wit and gentle laughter. Please pray for us, dear Laura. You were a light in this world, even in your own moments of darkness. The light you carried among us will be missed.
To the dear friends and family of Laura, my condolences. I am Laura’s spiritual grandmother, inviting her to a Regnum Christi retreat in Nebraska. Such a beautiful, sweet soul. Laura, rest in the arms of Jesus.
The good Lord cannot help but welcome this extraordinarily kind, gentle and faithful soul with open arms into His Kingdom. We who were privileged to know her are blessed indeed.
Dear Laura, I thank you for your service, love, and dedication to all of us students.
May you Rest in Peace in the arms of our loving
Father and may you be in His eternal love and peace.
Please pray for us.
Dear Laura! Thank you for your quiet light and heart burning with love for Jesus. Your perseverance and down-to-earth heart of service have been a gift to all of us. Rest in peace, and pray for us.
I am so blessed to have gotten to know such a precious soul as Laura. Laura was my constant go-to when I first came to DMU and she was always so generous and kind in helping me navigate everything. I am so thankful for her light and love that were such immense gifts to all who were blessed to be in her presence. I know she will always have a very special place in everyone’s hearts and minds at DMU. May you rest in Christ’s arms forever, dear Laura.
I had the honor and grace of being Laura’s chaplain during her final months. She bore her suffering with simplicity and trust, never presenting herself as a burden to others. She was able to build her entire consecrated life on her favorite Gospel verse: “She did what she could” (Mk 14:8). It was a life of simplicity and humble service behind the scenes, with great human efficacy at Divine Mercy University. As Fr. Charles Sikorsky, LC, DMU’s president, said in his note to faculty and staff: “We couldn’t have done it without her.” She will be deeply missed!
Thank you your example of humble and fervent love to the Lord to Whom you dedicated your life, of service of others, and of availability to undertake whatever was needed to bring the mission to completion. Your years at DMU are a testimony to this.
You have finished the race; you have kept the faith; you have competed well. You have longed for his appearance. May the Good Lord now reward you!
With prayers and gratitude to the Lord, Fr Robert Presutti, LC
Thank you for your example of fervent dedication to the Lord you loved so ardently and those around you you served so well. It was edifying to know you at DMU and witness your hard, humble, and hidden work…. so many sacrifices to bring the mission forward – May the Lord now grant you his gracious reward and abundant rest!
You have competed well; you have finished the race; you have kept the faith. May the Good Lord now award you the crown of righteousness!
Laura was a classmate of mine in Conrad, MT and continued to be a true friend. Our last conversation was in October and we talked about getting together again. She assured me things were good with her, but I’m sure she was doing that in her last days. The scripture verse you have with her name – I remember her always saying that in our phone conversations, which we had a few times a year, when we both said it had been too long and we needed to do better. Laura will be missed deeply by her family and friends and Emma. My heart aches along with all of yours.
To the family of Laura,
I am so sorry for your loss. Laura and I were friends in grade school and high school. She was a sweet person who I have fond memories of. I didn’t keep in contact with her but knew of her devotion to God. I am truly heartbroken and you have my deepest sympathy
I am relatively new to DMU, and my interactions with Laura were minimal and in passing. I did not have many opportunities to interact with her. Still, I could tell that she was a lovely person, and her passing saddens me. I sincerely wanted to express my condolences to those with whom she had special relationships. I know that she will be deeply missed. I pray for the repose of her soul and may she rest in God’s embrace.
Laura, my childhood friend, made the difficult years of junior high not just bearable but fun and dynamic. I remember CYO, reading class with Mr. McDonough, hours at the swimming pool, a Willy Nelson concert, and a trip to Boston.
May her family, friends, and colleagues find peace in the life she lived.
Dear Laura, it has been a long time, since I saw you last… perhaps some 23? But it is amazing, to see that you remained till the end of your earthly life the kind, peaceful, deep and loving woman, as I got to know you. Thank you for your testimony. Count on my prayers. Pray for us!
I love reading these messages of love for my cousin Laura. It seems the family she chose later in life is as wonderful as the one she was born into. My love to Aunt Flo and Uncle Ray and their family. Their faith is an inspiration to us all.
Laura’s life is such inspiring in the church of Jesus Christ. May her soul rest in eternal peace. We have hope in the resurrection of the Lord the same to saints. Your reward in heaven is much for the ministry and the love that you had for those who wanted it.
Thank you Laura for your life lived with love and generosity! I met Laura at Roda Island when she joined the formation center. She was a woman deeply attentive to the Holy Spirit, someone who did not settle for ready-made answers but sought truth with sincerity. Through her life, she bore witness to the light that dwelled within her, even in the midst of the challenges she faced. Her faith and resilience remain an inspiration to me. My deepest condolences to her family and my consecrated sisters.
Condolences to the parents and entire family of Laura. Also to the consecrated family. Laura was a dear colleague to many here at DMU. She was always ready to provide support, and often, she worked quietly in the background. Until the end she showed resilience and peace. May she rest in the peace of the Lord. Laura please pray for us!
Thank you God for giving me the gift of Laura. Her friendship brought me much joy because she delighted in so many things: children, animals, birds, plants, the ocean, the mountains, good words, games, choosing colors, teaching catechesis, finding and wrapping gifts, going to museums, good books and movies, talking about books and movies, learning and sharing helpful information and new ideas… She was a restful and enjoyable person to be with because of all of this but she was also someone of persevering faithfulness who called me higher. I cannot remember her ever complaining about anything or anyone, she would simply do what she could to patiently and steadfastly make things right and better. I will really miss her. May you bring her swiftly into her eternal rest Lord and may this be a grace-filled time for all of us who are her family and friends, that we may be consoled but that we also turn to you in hopes of the grace of following her example more closely.
Laura’s love for the Lord, quiet presence, steadfastness, loyalty, and nobility of heart made her a safe place to rest. She easily forgave offenses and would bring harmony to the craziest of situations. Serving alongside her at MEC (our formation center/college in Rhode Island), in academics and administration, she brought peace and order as we worked toward college accreditation. She would be in the middle of myself and another consecrated woman as we “discussed” things and she would bring us back together.
Her simple words and presence often brought me back to what was essential: Our Lord and His plan. Thy Kingdom Come!
Laura, I will miss the visits to the “tree house” and our walks, and the deep reflections you so generously offered. Thank you for your silent suffering—more than I can imagine through the many years of health challenges. Thank you for your quiet service and your perseverance in the face of death.
You brought light and joy to my heart on so many occasions. May you remember us as we continue our journey toward the reward that is now yours—well done, good and faithful servant!
