The Final Stage of the Consecrated Women’s General Assembly: Vision and Mission for the Future

Weekly Summary

The Consecrated Women are in the final week of their 2026 General Assembly. During the past weeks, they have made progress on the scheduled topics, concluding reflections on poverty, sustainability, changes to their proper law, a possible contemplative lifestyle within Regnum Christi, and the election of the general government. They also addressed the topic of fraternal life, which emerged in a significant way during the development of the assembly.

One of the most notable moments of the week was the gathering with the delegates of the General Chapter of the Legionaries of Christ and the General Assembly of the Lay Consecrated Men of Regnum Christi. On Monday, January 9th, the Consecrated Women participated in the Eucharistic celebration presided over by Fr. Carlos Gutiérrez, LC, the new General Director of the Legion of Christ, accompanied by Fr. John Connor, LC, the former General Director.

Afterwards, the Consecrated Women hosted a dinner with the Lay Consecrated Men and the Legionary chapter fathers, where they shared experiences from this time of discernment. The gathering unfolded in a climate of authentic communion, enriched by the testimonies of Fr. Melchior Poisson, LC, Jorge Lam, and Camila Melo, as well as the words of the general directors: Fr. Carlos Gutiérrez, LC, Nancy Nohrden, and Félix Gómez Rueda. Throughout the evening, the presence of the Holy Spirit was strongly felt, accompanying the work of the Chapter and the Assemblies: “The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy” (Psalm 125).

During this final stage, the work of the Consecrated Women is focused on developing the vision for the Society for the next six years, integrating the apostolic projection. They seek to articulate this vision as a clear and aspirational statement expressing what the institution intends to respond to in the coming period, in light of the call they perceive from God.

At the same time, they are drafting texts that capture what has been discerned along this synodal journey. The assembly’s Communiqué will reflect what the body of the assembly—the supreme governing organ of the Society—considers fundamental to guide the life and mission for the next six years, reaffirming their mission as apostles of hope and their commitment to bring Christ to the world in communion with all of Regnum Christi.
