47 girls and 11 moms participated in the 2nd “Looking Good Inside and Out” convention February 28 in Prince Edward Island, Canada. This day long gathering helps girls see their interior beauty and value as well as how to care for their appearance. Tracy Jones, a Regnum Christi member and mom, has always had a love for working with young girls and a passion to help them see their true beauty. She organized the convention because she wanted to find a way to reach out to girls age 10-16 through their interest in their appearance and teach them about their interior dignity as daughters of God. The girls at the convention participated in a day of workshops about hairstyles, nails and skin care as well as in sessions on the beauty of their souls, and a Q&A on “What boys think about girls”.
“Looking Good Inside and Out” is reaching girls of all denominations to give them basic formation in virtues and values with the hope of igniting an interest in other faith based activities and a deeper Catholic formation. Tracy plans to hold 3 conventions a year, and is getting requests for help in starting the program from other cities. In a very secular culture, Looking Good Inside and Out is creating a place where girls can come together in a fun way, find company with others in living their faith, and understand that they are beautiful “ because they are fearfully and wonderfully made” ( Ps 139:14) by a God who loves them.
